Doesn't Microsoft 365 already back up my data?
No. Under Microsoft's shared responsibility model, Microsoft keeps the service running; protecting the data inside your tenant is your responsibility. Deleted SharePoint and OneDrive files stay in the recycle bin for up to 93 days, and deleted Exchange Online items are recoverable for 14 days by default (30 at most). After that, the built-in tools can't restore them, unless a retention policy or hold kept a copy for search and export. CloudVision keeps an independent backup and checks every object against a 24-hour backup SLA.
Does Google Workspace back up Gmail and Google Drive?
Not in the way a backup does. According to Google’s help pages (checked 28 October 2026), files in Drive trash are deleted after 30 days, and admins can restore permanently deleted Drive files and Gmail messages for only 25 days after that. Google’s Vault FAQ says Vault isn’t designed to be a backup or archive tool. CloudVision backs up Gmail, Drive, Calendar and Contacts independently.

Data, security and restores
Where is my backup data stored?
In the UK by default. You can choose Canada, the USA, Ireland, Germany, Singapore, Australia or Japan instead when we set you up. Backups are kept independently of Microsoft, Google and Intuit, encrypted at rest and in transit, in data centres that are ISO 27001 certified and SOC 2 Type 2 audited.
How long do you keep backups?
As long as your policy requires. Retention is configurable, so you aren’t limited to the fixed windows Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace give you on their own, or the previous calendar year that QuickBooks Online Advanced restores to.
How fast can you restore a mailbox, site or QuickBooks company?

What is a backup compliance score?
The percentage of your protected objects (each mailbox, OneDrive, SharePoint site, Team and QuickBooks company) that were backed up within the 24-hour backup SLA. If 129 of 139 objects backed up on time, your compliance score is 93%. It sits at the top of your dashboard and of the CloudVision Daily Backup Report.
How do I know my backups are working?

Can I use the reports for audits, insurers or the board?
