The disasters that actually happen
- A deleted mailbox, SharePoint site or Team.
- A lost, overwritten or corrupted file.
- Ransomware that encrypts files and syncs the damage into OneDrive or Google Drive.
- A compromised account that deletes or changes data.
- A departing employee whose data is needed after they have gone.
The risk is not theoretical: Verizon's 2025 Data Breach Investigations Report found ransomware in 88% of breaches at small and medium-sized businesses, and the NCSC Annual Review 2025 reported a 129% increase in the serious cyber attacks it handled in one year.
Microsoft 365’s own recycle bins and restore windows run from 14 to 93 days. Our guide to Microsoft 365 retention vs backup lists the main ones, with Microsoft’s sources. For Google Workspace, see Is Google Vault a backup? QuickBooks Online Advanced restores only to within the previous calendar year: see how to back up QuickBooks Online.
You tell us what is missing. We put it back.
Recovery is one of the four jobs in the CloudVision managed service, alongside backup, monitoring and reporting. You tell our team what is affected, and we restore it from your CloudVision backup and get your team working again. You don't need to know where the data lived or how the restore tools work.
A restore is only as good as last night's backup
Most organisations find out their backups were failing when they try to restore. CloudVision checks every protected object against a 24-hour backup SLA, fixes anything that misses it and shows you the result every morning in the CloudVision Daily Backup Report, so you know every backup completed before you need it. If an insurer or auditor asks for evidence, see what backup evidence they look for.
Disaster recovery: common questions
Can CloudVision recover data after a ransomware attack?
Yes. We restore your Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and QuickBooks data from your CloudVision backup. CloudVision is a backup and recovery service, not malware protection: keep your security tools for stopping attacks, and use CloudVision to get your data back.
Do I need to know how to restore data myself?
No. Recovery is fully managed. Tell our UK team what you need back and we do the restore, 24/7.
How far back can you restore?
As far back as your retention policy goes. Retention is configurable to your policy, so the backups you need are kept for as long as you decide, not just last night’s.
Is our backup affected if a Microsoft 365 or Google account is compromised?
Your backups are kept independently of Microsoft, Google and Intuit, so data deleted or changed through a compromised account in your live services can be restored from your CloudVision backup.
How do I know my backups will work when I need them?
Every protected object is checked against a 24-hour backup SLA. Anything that misses it is flagged in your dashboard and daily report and fixed by our team, so problems are found long before you need a restore.
How quickly can we be protected?
We connect Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and QuickBooks in minutes, then run the first backups and confirm everything is reporting, so recovery is ready before you need it. The first full backup takes longer for large tenants.
